Scout/Parent Information and Forms

General Information

  • Weekly meetings: Monday, 6:30-8:00 pm in the Habitat House behind North Side Baptist Church

  • Scouts are expected to live up to the Scout Oath, Scout Law and Outdoor Code at all times

  • Annual dues, payable in January - $30

  • Extra Troop T-shirt - $5

  • Troop hat - $10

  • Health Forms: All Scouts/Leaders must have annual health form and insurance card on file

  • Uniforms:

    • Activity uniform: Troop T-shirt/jeans for regular Scout meetings

    • Official uniform: Scoutmaster Conferences, Boards of Review, Courts of Honor, when traveling, and at other times when announced

    • Add neckerchief/merit badge sash: Courts of Honor, flag ceremonies, and other formal occasions.

  • Fundraisers: We participate in the annual BSA Popcorn sale. Profits are recorded in individual "Scout Bucks" accounts to be used primarily to pay for summer camp (yep, some of our guys go to summer camp for 'free'). Other fundraisers held during the year help purchase troop equipment and offset the costs of other outings.

What you need to get started (and to keep on going...)

  • Boy Scout Handbook

  • Zipper type notebook to hold your handbook, Troop roster and contact info., notebook paper, pens/pencils, merit badge worksheets, etc.

  • Full Official Boy Scout uniform: shirt, pants/shorts, socks, belt, neckerchief slide, shoulder loops, and appropriate patches

  • Troop T-shirt and neckerchief, Troop number patch (provided when you join)

  • Troop hats may be purchased, or you may buy a BSA hat of your choice. Remember, only BSA hats are worn when in uniform

  • Compass

  • Mess kit and utensils

  • Pocket Knife (you may only use after you earn Totin' Chip)

  • Flashlight

  • Rain gear/poncho

  • Personal first aid kit (check Handbook for details)

  • Sleeping bag: recommend a lightweight 20-30 degree bag AND a fleece liner. Liner can be placed in the bag for our really cold weather campouts, or used alone for warm weather.

What to bring when camping/backpacking

Your Scout handbook has all the information you need and a checklist to help you pack properly. For car camping trips you may carry your equipment in a duffel bag. Backpacking requires - yep, a backpack.

Troop supplies tents. However, more experienced Scouts may want to invest in a personal lightweight backpacking tent.
